FAQs

What’s a “full-service graphic design studio”?

We help large and small companies brand themselves and their products. Some of the most common ways we do this is through the creation of logos and the development of an easy-to-navigate website which helps to present our clients’ services and products to their customers. In addition to corporate branding and website design, we also design corporate brochures, promotional mailings, product packaging, event signage, social stationery and anything else our clients may need. If it can be coded or printed, we can design it.

Web or Print – What does your company specialize in?

Curious & Company specializes in the whole package. With all of our partners bringing different backgrounds and strengths to the table, we are able to help our clients present a seamless and consistent brand to their customers. People are bombarded with so many marketing messages on a daily basis; we understand the importance of not only putting your best foot forward, but making sure that foot is always wearing the same “shoe.” People respond to colors and images and use those cues to help sort a ton of information. If your company’s website has one look, while your brochures have another, you’ve just confused your customer and you may lose him or her completely. Consistency in branding makes your message stronger, it makes it easier to identify your products, and portrays stability. With our broad range of skills, we are able to achieve branding consistency across many mediums.

How long does your design process take?

The amount of time that goes into our design process largely depends on our clients; while we do our best to work efficiently and stick to deadlines, the amount of feedback and copy/content changes a client has can always affect when a project is completed. Because of this, we often find it helpful to show clients a projected time line up front in order to ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding when we need feedback and how that impacts the final product. With that said, once we receive all of the necessary information and content from a client to begin working on a project, we work to have a first proof round completed within two weeks, and subsequent proofs within a week of receiving feedback; ideally, we aim to have most jobs completed by the third proof round.

I just have a small business, so I probably don’t need any design services, right?

‘Small business’ doesn’t mean ‘invisible business.’ Because Curious & Company is also small, we understand the difficult position small business owners are in. For that reason, we offer a few packages geared toward small businesses and start-ups.

I’ve seen logos for $50 on the internet. Why should I pay you more?

To be perfectly honest, you get what you pay for. When you work with Curious & Company, we have conversations, we learn about your industry and your business – what you do now, what you’d like to do in the future, who your customers are, etc. We work together to help you brand your whole company. Once we understand all of those elements, we can then develop a system which will work to represent your company. We will develop a logo, a color scheme, a type treatment, and more, if needed. When we’re finished, we will provide you with the logos and style guides we create specifically for your company.

I don’t have a business, but I am looking for an awesome invitation for my parents’ 35th wedding anniversary party. Can you help me?

We’d love to! No job is too small or too large — if you’re looking for a standout design for any reason, we are more than happy to work with you. If you’re looking for ready-to-order letterpress wedding invitations or social stationery, you should take a look at our Claremont Collection.

I’m not located in the Philadelphia area. Can we still work together?

Absolutely. Technology allows us to work with anyone, anywhere. If you’re on the east coast, west coast, in Canada or in Europe, we are happy to work with you.

Do you do anything to be “green”? Isn’t printing creating a lot of waste?

Printing does create waste, but we also feel strongly about the fact that print is an integral part of business that should not be entirely replaced by web. While we hesitate to use the term “green” because it is often misused, we can promise that we do strive to be an environmentally responsible business in regards to printing and beyond. We work with printers who make a concerted effort to use Earth-friendly inks and papers whenever possible, as well as participate in recycling programs. The letterpress printer with whom we collaborate on the Claremont Collection (and many other projects) uses antique Windmill and Heidelberg presses, as opposed to newer presses that would leave a larger carbon footprint on our planet. Whenever possible, we make the effort to use materials that leave the least amount of environmental impact, and when waste is produced we are sure to recycle.
